Idea of Multicast Icon
There is a medium sized circle on the left. Attached are two squiggly arrows directed towards two of four small circles vertically aligned to the right of the larger one.
This Multicast icon is a responsive icon. This means that it's optimized for four resolutions, from tiny 16x16 until highly detailed 80x80. The style comes from the latest Microsoft Office, which makes it perfect for any Windows applications, in particular, those with ribbon toolbar control. Unlike other icon packs that have merely hundreds of icons, this monster icon pack contains 15,800 icons, all in the same style and quality.

Master/Slave, Client/Server, Broadcast, Unicast, Multicast (5 icons)

From a Digital Electronics background perspective there are digital components, like the JK Flip Flop, or the D Flip Flop, which implement a Master-Slave principle. In the computing world another term used to indicate the master/slave principle is server/client. If you want to describe by means of iconification the Master/Slave principle, how would you iconify this?

I've been thinking about it, but I can't seem to design such icons to indicate wether a machine or component is acting as a master or as a slave. Besides that: you can have multiple masters and multiple slaves. For example: three masters and ten slaves. Each master waits for his turn to use the databus, while the slaves follow the master to which they have a corresponding relation (mostly an ID or bitregister). It goes too deep to start lecturing about master/slave, but my goal is to have two icons showing that "the thing" is either a master or a slave. I don't mean client or server icons! Another important thing is the communication of the master/slave principle. Does the master broadcast? unicast? or multicast? It's all related, not only within the digital electronics world, but also in the computing world.

Please feel free to come up with any good icons for master and slave. I think it is a design challege, because I can't figure out how on earth you symbolize these meanings. Icons for unicast, multicast and broadcast are welcome too, because they visualize the communication between the master and slave. Thank you for your design skills, I wish I had these too.
