Story about Skype Icon
Back in the heyday of telephones, a lot was left to the imagination—what the other person was wearing, what noise was that in the background, and when the person on the other line is a complete stranger, everything but the voice was a point of interest. So in true human fashion, pretending to be another person over the phone was a hobby of many.
In 2003, video-calling service Skype was first released by creators Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis. Skype was originally named “Skyper,” before they discovered that it was no longer available in all internet domains. Skype heavily influenced FaceTime and all the other video-calling apps that came thereafter. By 2015, users were spending a total of 3 billion minutes per day on Skype, and have spent two trillion minutes worth of video calls.
The current Skype logo consists of the name Skype in color white using a rounded typeface, with a bright blue background.
The Skype icon comprises of the letter S and takes the same colors and style as the logo.
